Formist founder Mark Gowing has constantly sketched iterations of form and letters since childhood. He was introduced to typography and design by his grandfather, who, amongst other things, was a calligrapher and sign-painter. Mark’s love of form, type, language and books led him to become a maker of things. And after 30 years of design practice, Formist Editions was born.
Whether it’s making books, posters, artworks or systems that aid with creative production, the objects Formist Editions produce reveal our obsession with form and visual culture; with obsessing over rhythms of language and typography; with making geometric compositions full of emotion and with telling stories about art and design and other things that we think matter.
At Formist Editions we love making and sharing objects and hope they can bring people enjoyment and enhance their passion to explore. Making things connects us to others and reminds us that to create is human.
